After a LONG pause, we come to you again with another Newsletter. This time we’re talking about fuel, fuel systems, and fuel system maintenance.
Ron Hatton and others told me a thing or two about Gasoline. First off, gas is not a uniform substance. Instead it is a brew of different hydrocarbon molecules, from small to pretty large. Just like wood in a fireplace or campfire, the small HC molecules are easiest to light and burn. They mix with oxygen in the incoming air most readily, and act like tinder in the wood fire. These small HC’s provide the needed heat to get the next largest ones burning. And the combustion process proceeds up the chain to larger HC clusters and molecules, just like the twigs get the small branches, then larger ones.burning. Eventually most of the HC molecules are burning, the biggest ones needing the longest time.
But unlike the fireplace, there’s a time limit inside the engine. Even by the time the exhaust valve opens, HC’s that were too big and slow-burning to produce heat to power your vehicle are STILL burning. These incompletely burnt wasted HC’s provide the “fuel” to power the catalytic converter. Your expensive Gasoline is fuel to both the engine AND the catalytic converter! The computer uses the downstream O2 sensor to “monitor converter efficiency” Translation: the Computer is looking to be sure enough “waste fuel” gets to the converter to run it and get it HOT ENOUGH to burn up that wasted gas!! How ya like THEM apples!
We, of course, have some remedies to reduce waste in your car or truck. One of these is SnakeOil Fuel System Treatment. It’s job is treating the fuel system moving parts, not the fuel itself. The active ingredient is a hyper-efficient anti-friction anti-wear molecule. It virtually eliminates friction and wear in fuel pumps and fuel injectors, both Gas and Diesel. It creates an active layer of protection on the steel and metal parts that wear, and it’s so slippery that nothing sticks to it, keeping injectors deposit-free. This promotes the accurate spray patterns the injectors must provide to give optimum combustion. Also, this Ingredient comes into the combustion chambers with the gas or diesel and further acts to lubricate the Top Cylinder area. These qualities really work to improve economy and power, and reduce emissions. It’s benefits will last for thousands of miles, but it’s a good idea to use it at least annually to maintain the fuel system moving parts. Lastly, even without using Snakeoil Fuel System Treatment, use a quality fuel injector cleaner in your gas once or twice a year, more if you drive a lot.
You might know, we also have the Gadgetman Groove, plus several other additional techniques that work with or without the famous Groove We’ve had reports of some fantastic results from customers, a few have actually doubled their MPG’s. One, even saw a momentary readout of over 70 MPG. My own 2001 Honda Accord 4cyl sedan, with a quarter million miles on it, is now a few miles away from returning 400 miles IN TOWN on one tank of gas. I’m using several small mods on it, the same ones I’ll freely share with YOU. One is- this tank was Ehanol-free gas. It does not yet have the Groove. IT DOES have grounded and insulated exhaust system, premium Ignition parts, full SnakeOil treatments, and new tires run at 51 lbs. pressure. That car would roll across the State if I let it!
Here are some wise words to remember for when you buy gas. This was written awhile ago as you can tell by the prices quoted here. Still true today. Best techniques and time to get gas.
I don’t know what you guys are paying for gasoline…. but here in California we are paying up to $3.75 to $4.10 per gallon. My line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money’s worth for every gallon:
Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose , CA we deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline.. One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons.
Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening….your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role.
A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
When you’re filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. You should be pumping on low mode, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you’re getting less worth for your money.
One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.
Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up; most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.
Again, I can’t recommend our SnakeOil Fuel System Treatment highly enough. IT works, that’s why everyone liks it!
I hope you have a great Fall Season. I look forward to helping you and others get more out of every gallon of fuel you buy. That’s what Ron Hatton did, and I do today.
Until next time, thanks for your attention. And, thank YOU for buying Snakeoil Products!
